My Reiki Why
Reiki complements my work as an Integration Coach, yet it is distinct. While coaching engages the conscious mind — examining thoughts, beliefs, and choices, Reiki works beneath analysis, supporting the subconscious and energetic body in letting go of what no longer serves.
I was first introduced to Reiki in 2004 while recovering from burnout after leaving my so-called dream job in investment banking. During that period of transition, I was invited to participate in a Reiki Level 1 training. Considering it a message from the Universe, I said “yes”. The impact was profound: I saw colors, felt my hands ignite, and experienced deep relaxation as my energy lightened and shifted. For a time, I practiced Reiki informally with friends, family, and myself before re-entering the workforce.
“Reiki takes me to a place of possibility and potential, helping me release what holds me back. Seeing its miraculous impact on myself and others, I now feel called to make it a formal part of my life’s work.”
Years later, in 2019, Reiki returned during another transition. I connected with a Reiki Master practitioner whose energy aligned with me, and what followed was a series of divine invitations into further Reiki training - Level 1, Level 2, and Advanced Reiki Training. Reiki was never something I set out to “add” to my work; it continued to arrive when it was meant to.
Over the last several years, since I launched Inviting Integration and stepped away from the structure and assumed safety of corporate life, Reiki has guided me on a different journey. I often say: “I am always a work in progress”, and Reiki helps me accept myself exactly as I am, knowing I have the Universe’s support as I chart my path.
During this time, I also delved deeper into my own perceived limitations. In 2023, I experienced tremendous pain in my right shoulder, which I attributed to tennis. Yet I sensed it was more than physical — in my belief system, every ailment has its roots in thoughts and emotions. After Reiki training and attunements, I shared with my physiotherapist in disbelief: “I am not sure what to tell you, but my pain is gone.” When old negative thoughts/emotions returned, so did the pain. That is until a fellow practitioner shared John Sarno’s Healing Back Pain book with me. After reading two chapters, my pain disappeared for good. The combination of Reiki, Sarno’s insights, and copious unedited journaling — which allowed me to witness my journey rather than be entangled in it — brought me to a place of freedom from pain.
I am grateful to weave the gifts of coaching and Reiki together, healing myself and others through the Universe’s blessings.
And the journey of mastery continues.
